Teaching Experience

Delivered lessons that were planned to incorporate SDAIE (Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English) teaching strategies, Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, techniques that appeal to a variety of Gardner’s  “multiple intelligences”, and where possible, cross-curricular content to increase relevance and knowledge transfer.

11/06 – present: Substitute Teacher with Poway Unified School District

·         Long-term substitute teacher (1 month) for first grade students at Adobe Bluffs Elementary School. Students included a small ELL cluster at various levels of fluency. Personally requested for assignment by school first grade team following successful substitute teaching assignments.

·         Long-term substitute teacher (4 months) for first grade students at Shoal Creek Elementary School. Shared contract in a team-teaching environment (40 students). Students included an ELL cluster at various levels of fluency. Personally requested for assignment by school following student teaching success.

·         Substitute teacher at various schools in the Poway Unified School District for all elementary grades (K-5). Managed student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the primary educator.

1/06 – 6/06: Student Teacher

4/06 – 6/06: Taught 40 first grade students in a team-teaching environment under a single supervising teacher (Linda Westgard) at Shoal Creek Elementary School. Planned and presented lessons across a variety of content areas, providing differentiation to accommodate student diversity. Assisted in performing formal reading assessments (running records).

1/06 – 4/06: Taught 40 third grade students in a team-teaching environment under two supervising teachers (Holly Hibbert and Lee Moeser) at Chaparral Elementary School. Planned and presented lessons across a variety of content areas to ability-grouped students, providing differentiation to accommodate student diversity. Planned and presented cross-curricular lessons within an Oceanography theme unit. Chaperoned various field trips and presented lessons as part of an anti-drug program.

1977 – 2000:    More than twenty years of experience across many technological fields has resulted in obtaining proficiency in the use of a wide variety of software applications, including (but not limited to) Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. Senior member of a team that developed software for investment bankers to assist them in trading complex financial instruments. Responsibilities included product definition, designing, building, testing, and delivery to customers. Traveled to customer sites to install product and provide training.

·         Manager responsible for the planning and coordination of product releases, requiring liaison with third party vendors and internal sales, marketing, support, and documentation departments.

·         Project manager and lead designer of a help desk product. Responsibilities included all staff assignments and assessments, gathering and documenting product requirements, product development cycle overview (planning, delivery, and reporting), and training sales personnel.
